Siân de Jong
Siân received her highly commended Montessori Diploma for children aged 2½ to 6yrs at the College of Modern Montessori in 2002. She successfully ran her own company in partnership with Lynne Jackson from 2000 to 2006, focusing on adult stock market education where she also completed a bookkeeping course in 2005. In 2006 Siân decided to pursue her dreams of teaching and went on to start her own Montessori Preschool in Noordwyk. The school opened in January of 2007 and has been going from strength to strength ever since. Siân taught the 3 – 6 year age group for 4 years before taking a on a full time Principal role in 2011, however her love for the classroom got the better of her and she stayed on as the Grade R teacher, ensuring school readiness.
Siân also completed her First Aid Level 1 course with Heart to Heart First Aid in 2006 and then completed an additional First Aid Level 1 course with National First Aid Academy in 2010 and then went on to renew it with S.M.A.R.T Solutions in August 2013.
In August of 2008, Siân attended the Move to Learn, Learn to Move Workshop from The Brain Connection (Centre for Neuro-Educational Assessment and Learning Efficiency). The Move to Learn program goes back to basics to promote sound Neuro-Educational Development to ensure Learning Readiness.
In 2009 she qualified as a Grade R teacher as she completed the ‘Advanced course in the Reception Year’ through UNISA. Siân has always had a passion for teaching children and coming from a family of teachers, it runs in her blood.
Siân is also a full member of SAMA (South African Montessori Association) and ADHASA.
New Branch Opening in Carlswald: Due to the successful running of the Noordwyk branch, and an ever growing waiting list with many parents impatiently waiting for their children to start, Siân decided it was time to expand the successful empire of her authentic Montessori school and open another branch in Carlswald, just off the New rd offramp. Carlswald Montessori opened in January of 2014, with full classrooms!
Noordwyk Branch Manager
Angela received her Montessori certification for children aged two and a half to six at the College of Modern Montessori in 2001. She taught at the School of Modern Montessori for 4 years, before being promoted to vice-principal. Her love for teaching won and she decided to return to the classroom. She joined Midrand Montessori Preschool when they first opened their doors in 2007 and taught as the Toddler Directress for 8 years, also being promoted to the Toddler Centre Manager in that time. In 2015, Angela stepped out of the classroom, and with 14 years experience under her belt, has been promoted to Head of Department. Her duties are now to ensure quality standards are being maintained in all the classrooms and also giving of her vast knowledge and experience to the directresses. Angela is a true Montessorian, who believes unquestionably in the Montessori method.
Vice Principal & Admissions
Kirstie joined the Midrand Montessori team in February 2011 after spending 10 years in the hospitality industry on a private game reserve in the Eastern Cape. She took over from Lynne and fulfilled the role as the school secretary and administrator and was promoted to general manager in 2013. As the school has grown over the years, Kirstie took on the role as Vice Principal from January 2015 and is also in charge of school admissions. She obtained her Montessori Diploma for children aged 21Ž2 to 6yrs at the College of Modern Montessori and qualified at the end of 2015. She attends regular Montessori workshops to further develop her education in the Montessori Method and takes an active role in the Montessori environment. Her love for the children and seeing them develop and grow is her biggest motivation at ensuring high quality standards within the school.
Lynne has been with the school since the day it opened its doors in January 2007. She was the school secretary for 5 years and then decided to continue doing the accounts and invoicing from home. She also assists with some of the day to day shopping and is deemed as the “gogo Lynne” of the school.
Preschool Head Directress
While researching the Montessori Method, as her daughter was to attend a Montessori school in KZN, Magashnie was inspired to learn more about the teaching concept.
She received her Montessori Diploma for children aged 2.5 – 6 years of age in 2009 and studied at the College of Modern Montessori. Mags has also completed her First Aid Level 1 training and renewed it in 2015 with S.M.A.R.T Solutions. She has seen, through her own 3 children, as well as the children who she works with, the development of their independence, the freedom to be creative and a willingness to learn, all through simple, yet purposeful materials in the Montessori environment. Magashnie loves being a Montessorian and finds it fulfilling and rewarding.
Monique studied at the College of Modern Montessori and qualified in 2014 as a 3-6yr teacher. She has 5 years experience in working with children. Monique also obtained her ECD qualification in 2011 from ages 2- Grade R through TLC (Teachers Learning Centre). Monique is also trained in First Aid Level 1 and wants to complete Level 2 in the near future. Monique has always had a passion for working with children and loves what she does.
Preschool Assistant Directress
Since February 2008 Jabulile has 5 years of experience in working with children and has successfully completed the EduBabe Child Care Course in January 2008. She also completed her First Aid Level 1 Course through National First Aid Academy in 2010. Jabulile continues to broaden her knowledge by attending regular Montessori Training Workshops.
Caroline has been part of the Midrand Montessori family since January 2010. She attended many in-house training courses and loves the Montessori Principles. She fell pregnant and took a year off to raise her daughter in 2014. Caroline came back and joined us in January 2015. Caroline is a asset to our school and the children and parents alike just love her.
Toddler Directress (2-3 years)
Kavitha received her highly commended Montessori Diploma for children aged 2 1/2 to 6 years at the college of Modern Montessori in 2016 and has joined the Midrand Montessori team while still studying towards it in 2015. She has a great passion for children and immense patience with them. Kavitha started working in the 3-6 environment and then later moved to the toddler centre to teach the older children there. She loves teaching and maintains a close relationship with all the children in the environment.
Toddler Directress (1 – 2 years)
Sophia successfully completed the EduBabe Child Care Course and basic CPR in January 2006. From 2007 to 2009 she worked as the assistant in the senior toddler class and gained a lot of practical experience. This inspired her to further her studies and in 2010 she successfully completed the Toddler and Infant Montessori Course through NAMC (North American Montessori Centre) and qualified as a Toddler Directress. She was then promoted to start and run her own class of 12 toddlers in January 2010 with the aid of an assistant.
Zandile has been working with children since 2006 and has a true love for her profession. She successfully completed the EduBabe Child Care Course and basic CPR training in 2010. She continues to attend regular Montessori workshops to further develop her education in the Montessori method.
Toddler Assistant Directress
Noreen joined the Midrand Montessori team in January 2015 in the Toddler Centre. She is a dedicated, hard working young lady, who fell in love with the Montessori Method. She then subsequently went and enrolled herself as a correspondence student with the College of Modern Montessori in 2016. Her hard work and dedication paid off as she qualified as a Montessori Directress at the end of 2016. Noreen’s passion and ambition will see her go from strength to strength in years to come.
Infant and Toddler Assistant
Nancy joined the Midrand Montessori team in May 2008. She has 9 years of experience in working with children and completed her First Aid Level 1 Course through National First Aid Academy in 2010. Nancy continues to broaden her knowledge by attending regular Montessori Training Workshops.
Toddler Centre Custodian
Monica joined Midrand Montessori in November 2011 as the cleaner and endeavors at all times to keep the school looking beautifully clean.
Jan joined Midrand Montessori in 2008 and has had 10 years experience working as a security guard. He takes his job as security very seriously and ensures the safety of our children at all times. He is a hard working and dedicated employee and the bonus is he also keeps our grounds and gardens looking perfectly manicured!
